How it Works
Shift & Save® provides incentives to qualified PG&E customers to install Peak Load Shift equipment that uses less expensive, less polluting nighttime power to create and store cooling for use the next day.
TES Examples: Full to Partial Load
- Full Storage
Ice or Chilled Water is created at night when electricity is both plentiful, less expensive and uses less source energy - also supports intermittent renewable loads like wind. - Part Storage Load Leveling
Ice or Chilled Water is melted during daytime peak hours to supplement the cooling load when electricity is in high demand and expensive. - Part Storage
Ice or Chilled Water storage reduces the peak electrical demand, helping both the end user and the utility.
